Thompson Leisure Ltd. is looking to employ a Trainee Bookkeeper / Secretary to assist our existing Bookkeeper and carry out receptionist and secretarial duties.

You will be the first point of contact for all queries, requests or issues and will be responsible for dealing with these in a courteous and professional manner.

You will need to be IT proficient and will be required to learn how to operate our existing systems including SAGE, banking, VAT, stock control and CRM. You will be dealing with client emails, calls and queries and must be open to being hands on within the business operations (including assisting sales and aftersales team, attending motor shows and possibly having to drive from time to time).

You will be working under our existing Bookkeeper and all training will be given thus, little or no Bookkeeping experience is required.

The role:

  • Answering phone calls and dealing with customer queries
  • Professional telephone mannerism
  • Communicating directly with clients across the UK and Ireland face to face, and by
  • telephone and email
  • Monitoring office supplies and equipment and ordering when necessary
  • Learning to code source documents such as invoices and purchase orders to the
  • appropriate accounts
  • Learning to use SAGE, PAYE and other accounting software
  • Maintaining and updating accounting records
  • Maintaining bank account records and performing bank account reconciliations
  • Assisting with the preparation of accounting summaries and reports when
  • requested
  • Identifying and resolving any errors as appropriate
  • Working closely with existing Bookkeeper and undergoing training
  • Performing other related duties as required


We are looking for someone who is:​

  • Knowledgeable/experienced (at least a little). We need someone who has taken courses in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping and/or has experience working in these fields. You need to show you have high numeracy and data entry skills.
  • Meticulous. The ideal candidate hates making mistakes and is extremely detail- oriented.
  • A great communicator. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English) and have a customer service orientation and an ability to negotiate. Excellent phone manner and personable qualities are highly important for this role.
  • Tech-savvy. You'll need to be adept with computers, MS Office and good at figuring out new systems and tools. Familiarity with Excel is strongly preferred. SAGE experience is a big plus but is not required.
  • Flexible. You’ll have to have a high degree of multi-tasking and time management capabilities. This position is designed to give you a broad range of experience in business operations. Your projects will vary in scope, complexity, difficulty, and functional area. Not all of your responsibilities will be related directly to accounting and bookkeeping. You'll need to have the flexibility to adapt to rapid change in your responsibilities and priorities.
  • A quick learner. Because of the range of projects you could work on, you'll be doing a lot of things for the first time. There will always be colleagues available to help you, and training will be given but it'll be a challenge to learn so much so rapidly. This is part of what will make the role a great learning experience, but it also means that you'll really need to be able to pick up new skills and knowledge very quickly.
  • Professional. Must show a high degree of integrity and professionalism
  • Holds a UK/Irish driving licence
  • Preferably the bookkeeper candidate should have an Associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as a knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles. At times you may be required to attend trade shows and help with the selling process.

We are on the hunt for a new Marketing Executive who will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of the business’ marketing through a range of different media platforms including; print, radio, events, direct mail, email, social media, PPC, SEO, blogs and the company website. You will be responsible for the marketing of new stock on arrival and presenting the product to all new and potential customers utilising the company’s database.

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual with a strong, and innovative marketing head, who can come up with powerful strategies using SEO, PPC, and other techniques to drive traffic to company pages and generate interest in company products and services. Ideally we want someone who has a knack for creating engaging written, graphic, and video content while staying up-to-date on latest marketing technologies and trends.

The role

To be considered for our Marketing position, it is essential that you demonstrate an ability to carry out all the tasks listed below:

  • Present product for sale on arrival, both online and at the showroom with associated displays

  • Assist in new and previous customer prospecting utilising our CRM system

  • Analyse our Google analytics and present reports on marketing spend and results

    through Yell.com

  • Make recommendations to the management regarding google spend budget and

    changes that need to be made to the website to increase search engine rankings

  • Manage email and social media marketing campaigns as well as the company’s

    PPC, SEO and adwords

  • Oversee PPC campaigns and SEO techniques monitoring their performance and

    return on investment

  • Collate and report back monthly on performance statistics for all digital

    communications across all channels, using these statistics to influence future digital


  • With the rest of the team act as a brand guardian in terms of look and feel of

    company communications as well as tone of voice of copy

  • Develop engaging online content including clickbait, forums, videos, graphics, and blogs; monitor and analyse content success

  • Forecast marketing campaign growth and ROI for marketing campaigns

  • Organise sales and advertising events

  • Meet and greet customers as required

  • Monitor our stock pricing and keep up to date with what our competitors are

    offering. Suggest ways in which to promote slow moving stock

  • Innovate and present new marketing platforms and strategies

  • Communicate effectively with a range of clients, the Thompson Leisure

    Management, and Team Essential requirements:

  • Excellent IT skills including utilising Social Media marketing techniques via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, Mail Chimp, Survey Monkey, etc.

  • Knowledge of SEO, PPC, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Content Management Systems, Photoshop, InDesign, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft Office

  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of marketing

  • Experience of working to tight timelines

  • Proactive, hardworking, confident, self-motivated and energetic

  • Flexible, adaptable and up for a challenge

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, good at building and maintaining relationships

  • Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills

  • Full clean driving license

    Desired experience and qualifications:

  • Previous online marketing experience ideally from the same or similar industry

  • Ideally degree educated with a minimum of a 2.1 in a relevant degree

  • A CIM qualification, Google Adwords and Analytics certification would be an

    advantage but not essential

  • Experience of HTML coding and Photoshop would be an advantage

  • Analytical and proactive approach to online marketing

  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills

The role will include the following:

  • Working alongside our existing experienced sales staff you will be expected to learn specification and technical knowledge quickly

  • Working to achieve set monthly Motorhome and Campervan sales targets
